When people think of accounting, they usually think of numbers, tax forms, and spreadsheets. Those things are definitely part of it, but for me, accounting has always been about something bigger. It is about helping people. It is about bringing order to chaos. It is about building something steady, useful, and trustworthy.
My journey into accounting did not start in a big firm or a corporate office. It started with bookkeeping.
I had the opportunity to learn bookkeeping from a controller at a powersports dealership, and that experience gave me a real foundation. It was hands on, practical, and honest. I learned how the day to day details matter, how every transaction tells a story, and how good bookkeeping supports the entire business. That was where I first began to understand that accounting is not just about compliance. It is about clarity.

From there, I earned my Associate of Science in Accounting Technology from Gadsden State Community College. That step gave me structure and helped me grow the technical side of my knowledge. It also confirmed something important for me. I was in the right field.
As my education continued, so did my career. I started my journey at ERA King while working toward my Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Jacksonville State University. That season of life shaped me in a big way. I was learning in the classroom while also gaining real world experience, and those two things together helped me grow quickly. I was not just studying accounting. I was living it.
Working in a real business environment while finishing my degree taught me how important it is to make accounting approachable. A lot of people do not want to hear complicated terms or feel intimidated by financial conversations. They want someone who can help them understand what is going on, what matters, and what comes next. That has stayed with me ever since.

After that, I continued on to earn my Master of Accountancy from the University of North Alabama. Completing my master’s degree was a major milestone for me. It represented a lot of hard work, late nights, and commitment to the path I knew I was meant to follow.
Along the way, I also earned my Certified Fraud Examiner credential. That was another meaningful step in my journey because it deepened my understanding of financial integrity, internal controls, and the importance of looking beyond the surface. Accounting is not just about recording numbers correctly. It is also about protecting businesses, asking good questions, and helping create stronger systems.

Somewhere in the middle of all of that, Evergreen was planted.
What started as an idea slowly became something real. With the help of my Business Partners, Jackson and Josh, a seed was planted in me to build something, something that felt more personal, more modern, and more human. We wanted to create an accounting firm that felt approachable. A place where small businesses and individuals could get help without feeling judged, overwhelmed, or like they were just another file on someone’s desk.
That vision became Evergreen Accounting Services LLC.
Evergreen is still growing, just like I am. Building it has been one of the most exciting and meaningful parts of my journey so far. It represents not only my education and experience, but also my values. I believe accounting can be warm. I believe professionalism and kindness can exist in the same space. I believe people deserve support that feels clear, honest, and personal.
Right now, I am continuing that journey by working toward my CPA license.
That next step means a lot to me. It is not just another credential. It is part of a bigger commitment I have made to myself, my clients, and the future I am building. Every class, every exam, every long day, and every challenge has been part of the process.
When I look back, I do not just see degrees, credentials, and job titles. I see growth. I see people who taught me. I see moments that stretched me. I see the beginning of something I care deeply about.
And I know I am still just getting started
My accounting journey has taken me from learning bookkeeping in a dealership office to earning advanced degrees, gaining professional credentials, and building a firm of my own. Every step has shaped how I serve others today.
I am proud of where this journey started, proud of where it has taken me, and even more excited about where it is headed next.
